I'm new

Have you ever thought about attending a church but you wanted a little better idea what you might encounter when you got there?  Here are some questions someone might want answered before attending a service:

New Guests/Inquirers: If I visit, will I be singled out as a new visitor?
We promise you will not be asked to stand up and share your life story with everyone. People will inevitably greet you, but not embarrass you. Scouts honor.

Dress Code: What is appropriate to wear to First Assembly?
Jeans or a suit...it doesn't matter to us. Our dress is casual and comfortable, although there are people who dress up. We're not so concerned on what you wear, rather we want you to feel comfortable. By the way the Pastor rarely wears a tie, if that helps.

What is the preaching like

We believe that the Word of God is the foundation for our lives and that it is applicable for today. That is what you'll hear. Messages from a transparent and relational style, to be lived out in our culture and context.

What is the music like?

We are passionate about everything we do including worship. The music that you'll experience is generally guitar driven with a full band and a contemporary style. We tend to do worship with newer sounds and songs but you'll also hear older hymns redone in a modern way.

Denomination: Is First Assembly a Christian church?
Yes, we are Christ followers. We base our beliefs in the Bible, which is God's direct message to us that transforms lives. First Assembly is part of the Assemblies of God, a loose knit fellowship...not a denomination.

Do I have to give money to attend First Assembly?
No. Giving is for regular attenders who call First Assembly home. Guests should sit on their wallets.

Do I have to believe in Jesus Christ or confess certain beliefs before I can attend First Assembly?
No. Many people who start attending First Assembly have very little or no relationship with Christ. They are just checking Him out...inquiring. A relationship with Christ is a journey and at First Assembly we just want to help you along that path.

Will I get hounded by people trying to convert me?
We promise no one will besiege you and shake a Bible in your face. We'd love to deliver a gift bag with some info on First Assembly but that is predicated on whenever you choose to fill out a guest card.

Does First Assembly welcome people with a lot of baggage or a broken past?
Yes. We believe that all people matter to God, and all of us have a broken past. Our mission at First Assembly is to lead all people to full life development in Christ. Some of our small groups focus on connecting with others who are broken and in need of healing.

Small Groups... What are LifeGroups?
Life Groups are topic and interest centered ways to jumpstart spiritual conversations and connect with other people. At First Assembly we believe relationships are the key to health.
